A Little Update from the Host’s Corner

Keep those AWESOME submissions coming! We LOVE to see everything that you all are up to!

Things are buzzing here in the 365 home as we approach a delightful period of transition! In just a couple of weeks, all three of my wonderful children will be embarking on an exciting journey, flying back east to visit relatives. While I’ll undoubtedly miss their lively chatter and endless energy, I must confess, the thought of a temporarily quiet house brings a little smile to my face. It’ll be a unique opportunity for some serene moments, perhaps to catch up on projects, read a good book, or simply enjoy the calm before the storm of their return.

And speaking of their return, the timing couldn’t be more perfect! They’ll be arriving home on my birthday, transforming what could have been a quiet celebration into a joyous family reunion. I’ve even planned it so we’ll be just in time to catch the spectacular fireworks display that night. Yes, you read that right – I absolutely planned that on purpose, I did! There’s nothing quite like celebrating with loved ones and capping it all off with a dazzling show in the sky. It’s these little moments and clever timings that make life’s milestones even more memorable. We’re all eagerly anticipating the adventures ahead, both near and far.

Now, let’s dive into the fantastic features from last week, shall we?

Our Most Clicked & Wicked Good Features!

Each week, your links bring a fresh wave of inspiration. Here are the submissions that truly stood out!

The Most Clicked Link of the Week: A Taste of the Tropics with a Twist!

This week’s undeniable crowd-pleaser, garnering the most clicks, is the tantalizing Hawaiian Potato Salad from Cooking with Curls!

Hawaiian Potato Salad
Lisa, the creative mind behind Cooking with Curls, delighted us all with her unique take on Hawaiian Potato Salad. When I first laid eyes on this dish, my immediate thought drifted to the usual suspects that give a “Hawaiian” flair – visions of sweet pineapple or perhaps a tangy mango salsa danced in my head. However, Lisa’s recipe beautifully defied expectations!

To my delightful surprise, it’s not the fruit that grants this salad its distinctive island vibe, but rather the clever inclusion of two unexpected ingredients: creamy macaroni and tender peas! Who would have thought? It’s a testament to how culinary traditions and regional variations can truly surprise and inspire us. This isn’t just a potato salad; it’s a delightful blend of textures and flavors that conjures images of backyard luaus and relaxed gatherings. My initial musings about whether it should be called a “Macaroto Salad” or a “Potacaroni” one were, of course, all in good fun. But seriously, this innovative combination is a must-try for anyone looking to add a fresh, intriguing twist to their next picnic or potluck. Head over to Cooking with Curls to get the full recipe and discover this delicious secret for yourself!

My Wicked Pick of the Week: A Sweet Dream Come True!

My personal “Wicked Pick” this week goes straight to my heart (and my sweet tooth!) with The Ultimate Donut List from Crumbs and Chaos!

Ultimate Donut List
Becca from Crumbs and Chaos must possess some secret insight into my deepest cravings, because she absolutely knows I have an undeniable, irreparable weak spot for donuts! And oh my goodness, just LOOK at this list! It’s not just a list; it’s a magnificent compendium, a veritable encyclopedia of deliciousness. I can only imagine the glorious array of glazed, jelly-filled, chocolate-dipped, cake, and perhaps even some wonderfully unique, artisanal creations that are waiting to be explored within this treasure trove.

My fantasy now involves somehow convincing someone (anyone!) to embark on the monumental task of making every single one of these donuts for me. Please? A girl can dream, right? Paired with a steaming hot cup of coffee, this list represents the ultimate indulgence. Whether you’re a classic glazed enthusiast or an adventurous flavor seeker, this list promises to inspire your next sweet treat adventure. Be sure to hop over to Crumbs and Chaos to immerse yourself in this spectacular sugary paradise and find your next favorite donut recipe!

Two More Wicked Favorites: Beauty and Comfort in Harmony

First up, a breathtaking natural beauty: Love for Lilies from My Turn for Us!

Love for Lilies
Evelyn’s beautiful post on “Love for Lilies” immediately transported me back to cherished memories of my childhood home in Rhode Island. It evoked a vivid sense of nostalgia, painting a picture of simpler times and the enduring beauty of nature. We had a magnificent row of these stunning Purple Bearded Irises that would burst into bloom every spring, gracing our garden with their vibrant hues and delicate fragrance. Their intricate petals and regal presence were always a highlight of the season, a true sign of renewal and beauty.

Seeing Evelyn’s pictures and reading her words brought a poignant warmth to my heart, reminding me just how much I miss the charm and distinct character of New England springs. The way these flowers stood tall, swaying gently in the breeze, became an iconic image of home. It’s amazing how a simple bloom can unlock such powerful, vivid recollections. If you appreciate the serene beauty of flowers and enjoy heartwarming reflections, you absolutely must visit My Turn for Us to read Evelyn’s post and perhaps share your own garden memories.

AND for a comforting culinary masterpiece: Slow Cooker Lasagna from Sourdough Native!

Slow Cooker Lasagna
Kari from Sourdough Native truly hit the nail on the head with this brilliant creation! Lasagna is, without a doubt, one of our absolute favorite family meals. There’s something inherently comforting and satisfying about layers of pasta, rich tomato sauce, creamy ricotta, and melted cheese. However, as much as we adore it, the traditional process of making lasagna can often feel like an all-day commitment, especially for busy weeknights. The endless boiling of noodles, the careful layering, and the long baking time can sometimes deter even the most enthusiastic home cooks.

This is where Kari’s genius shines through: Slow Cooker Lasagna! The idea of transforming this beloved classic into a hands-off, set-it-and-forget-it meal is nothing short of revolutionary. Imagine coming home to the aroma of perfectly cooked, tender lasagna, all thanks to the magic of a crockpot. This adaptation doesn’t just save time; it often results in an even more deeply flavored and tender dish as the ingredients meld together over hours of slow cooking. This is a game-changer for anyone who loves hearty, homemade meals but is short on time. Lasagna + Slow Cooker / Crockpot = ABSOLUTELY AWESOME!!!! You simply have to check out this incredible recipe over at Sourdough Native and free up your oven for other culinary adventures!
