Greetings, wonderful readers! You might be noticing the calendar says Tuesday, yet this post proudly declares itself “Feature Friday.” Don’t fret, there’s a perfectly good explanation, though it leans more towards me being fashionably late rather than extraordinarily early. This particular spotlight was originally slated for last Friday, but as often happens, life, or rather, an unexpected burst of inspiration, intervened.
Just at the dawn of last week, while comfortably nestled in bed, I experienced one of those glorious “aha!” moments. Isn’t it peculiar how our most brilliant thoughts and creative sparks often ignite when we’re in the midst of winding down? My mind was abuzz with fantastic ideas, a writer’s dream, but alas, putting pen to paper in the dark without disturbing my husband felt like an impossible feat. Perhaps I should dedicate myself to mastering the art of nocturnal note-taking!
Anyway, in that peaceful, dimly lit space, my thoughts drifted to our blog and vibrant Facebook community. That’s when the idea for “Feature Friday” truly blossomed – a weekly series dedicated to shining a light on a different blogger friend. My vision was simple yet profound: to introduce you to incredible voices in the blogging world, allowing us all to connect, learn, and grow together. I wanted to create a platform where we could delve deeper into their personalities, discover their unique blogs, and celebrate their passion.
Introducing Our Inaugural Feature Friday Guest: Joan of Chocolate, Chocolate and More Chocolate!
And so, that very vision sprung to life this past week with our very first “Feature Friday” installment. We had the immense pleasure of hosting Joan from Chocolate, Chocolate and More Chocolate as our esteemed guest! The excitement was palpable, and the timing couldn’t have been more perfect. Coincidentally, Joan was rapidly approaching a monumental milestone on her Facebook page: 10,000 friends (because, truly, you’re all friends, not just fans, in our community). This is an achievement that absolutely demands celebration, a testament to her dedication and the delicious content she shares.
I am absolutely thrilled to report that with a few encouraging shout-outs from fellow foodie friends, and as of this very writing, Joan has not only surpassed that incredible 10,000 mark but has soared to an astounding 10,637 and continues to climb! It’s a truly remarkable feat that underscores the power of her delicious creations and engaging online presence. If you’re on Facebook and haven’t yet discovered her wonderful page, I urge you to head over immediately! To commemorate this significant milestone, Joan has been hosting a week-long chocolate party – because what else would a chocolate aficionado do? Friends from all corners have been contributing some truly incredible and mouth-watering dishes. You absolutely must visit, especially if you consider yourself a devoted chocolate lover!

For this inaugural “Feature Friday” and all subsequent ones, our aim is to bring you a comprehensive introduction to each featured blogger. This includes a little background about their journey and passion, a delightful showcase of some of their most tantalizing recipes, and a fun, insightful 10-question interview designed to help us all get to know them on a more personal level. Joan and I had an absolute blast putting this together, and I’m confident that this series will serve as your gateway to discovering a wealth of amazing bloggers you might not have encountered otherwise.

Meet Joan: Our First Ever Feature Friday Luminary!
I’ve had the distinct pleasure of knowing Joan since late last year, or perhaps it was the very beginning of this year – honestly, the precise timeline escapes me because it truly feels as though we’ve been friends for an eternity! Our connection felt instant and remarkably profound. When she first stumbled upon my blog (and I’m still not entirely sure how she found her way here, but I’m eternally grateful she did), she left a comment that resonated deeply with me. She observed that we shared so much in common that we simply had to be “sisters from another mother.” I couldn’t agree more, and I am immeasurably happy and blessed to have Joan as such a dear friend and invaluable confidante.
Joan has been an incredible source of wisdom and support in navigating the often-complex world of blogging. Her insights and encouragement have been a guiding light. And her recipes? Well, they truly speak for themselves, each one a testament to her skill and passion. It might surprise some, given her blog’s name, but her culinary repertoire extends far beyond just chocolate, offering a delightful array of dishes for every palate. Beyond her undeniable talent in the kitchen and her savvy blogging expertise, Joan is an exceptionally kind, generous, and genuinely supportive soul. She is truly the type of person everyone should be fortunate enough to have in their corner. As a testament to her collaborative spirit, she even did a fantastic guest post for me, sharing her famous and absolutely divine Seven Layer Bars – they are, quite literally, out of this world delicious!
I am both honored and incredibly blessed that she so graciously agreed to be our very first guest, especially given the rather short notice on my part! It speaks volumes about her kindness and enthusiasm for community. So, without further ado, and with the virtual equivalent of a grand red carpet entrance, I proudly present to you once more…
A Glimpse into Joan’s World: Her Story and Blogging Philosophy
In her own words, Joan shares, “I’m Joan, and I blog over at Chocolate, Chocolate and More. I’ve been immersed in the blogging world for over a year now, and I genuinely adore every single aspect of it. My culinary focus primarily revolves around crafting delightful sweet treats, but occasionally, other dishes with a very low sugar content manage to sneak their way onto the blog – after all, the family does need to eat! I’m also a self-proclaimed bread fanatic, so you’ll definitely find an abundance of bread recipes; yeast and I are the best of friends.”
“My life unfolds in a charming small town in Georgia, where the classic notion that everyone truly knows everyone rings true – think along the lines of the idyllic community portrayed in The Andy Griffith Show. While my immediate shopping choices might be a bit limited, I honestly wouldn’t trade this tranquil setting for any other place in the world. I’ve been happily married to my best friend for 17 wonderful years, and together, we’re navigating the exciting (and sometimes chaotic) journey of raising three children. They’re all in their teenage years now, so the vibrant energy of ‘hormones gone wild’ is a rather common, albeit lively, occurrence around our home. Additionally, I’m blessed with two step-children and the joy of being a grandma to three precious little ones – hard to believe, considering I’m still only 21, hehe! I embrace my role as a stay-at-home mom, which has become incredibly cool for me now that all the kids are off at school. This precious window of a few hours each day, when I’m home by myself, transforms into my dedicated ‘create in the kitchen’ time. It’s just me, my culinary canvas, and my ever-faithful dog, who is always patiently on standby, ready to meticulously clean up any accidental drops or spills.”
A Culinary Journey: Joan’s Diverse and Delicious Creations
As Joan beautifully articulated, her blog isn’t exclusively a chocolate paradise, though it certainly offers plenty of those! She masterfully crafts a wide array of other delectable dishes for us to savor. Take, for instance, her inviting “White Bread ~ Simple and Tasty.” This recipe is a perfect example of her skill in creating comforting, everyday staples that are both easy to make and incredibly satisfying, proving that sometimes, the simplest things are truly the most delicious.
But then, just when you think you’ve seen the full spectrum, she presents something so irresistibly chocolatey, a creation that embodies pure indulgence. Her “Chocolate and Peanut Butter” masterpiece is a testament to that classic flavor combination, delivering a rich, creamy, and utterly delightful experience that no chocolate or peanut butter enthusiast could possibly resist. It’s a harmonious blend of two beloved flavors, elevated to perfection.
Or how about this exquisite “Chocolate Chantilly,” otherwise celebrated as quite possibly the easiest, fastest, and most elegant chocolate mousse you will ever have the pleasure of preparing? This recipe showcases Joan’s ability to create sophisticated desserts that are surprisingly approachable, allowing home bakers to achieve gourmet results with minimal effort. It’s a light, airy, and deeply satisfying chocolate dream.
And who, I ask you, could possibly resist Joan’s ingenious Chocolate Chocolate Chip Zucchini Cake? I certainly know I can’t! This recipe is a brilliant example of how Joan incorporates wholesome ingredients into decadent treats, creating a moist, flavorful cake that cleverly sneaks in a serving of vegetables. It’s a guilt-free indulgence that’s perfect for any occasion.
And finally, for those of you whose palates might be craving a touch of freshness after feasting your eyes on these incredible dessert pictures, here is a fantastic option: some Brown Sugar Cinnamon Fruit Dip! This versatile dip offers a delightful balance of sweet and spicy, perfectly complementing a platter of fresh fruit. It’s a lighter, yet equally flavorful, offering from Joan’s diverse recipe collection, proving her versatility and creativity in the kitchen.
Getting to Know Joan: A Deep Dive with 10 Questions
To truly get acquainted with the wonderful woman behind “Chocolate, Chocolate and More Chocolate,” I posed these 10 questions to Joan, designed to reveal more about her passions, quirks, and culinary philosophies. Her answers offer a delightful and authentic glimpse into her world:
“In my fridge, you’ll always find milk, eggs, and butter. I confess, I start to feel a little anxious when my freezer stock of butter dwindles to the last two pounds – it’s an essential! As for the pantry, it’s invariably well-supplied with sugar in every conceivable form: granulated, powdered, colored, raw – you name it, I’ve got it. Then, of course, there’s chocolate! Chips, baking bark, candy bars – I literally have an entire cabinet dedicated to my chocolate treasures. And finally, extracts are a must-have. I absolutely love them; simply swapping out an extract flavor in a recipe can completely transform it, yielding something entirely new and wonderfully delicious!”
“Oh, that’s a tie for me. First, bananas – I simply cannot stand the smell of them, which means I’ve never even brought myself to try eating one. And second, raw tomatoes. I’m sorry, but their texture is just too slimy in the middle for my liking.”
“Table manners are a big one for me. We certainly have a great time and enjoy lively conversations at the dinner table, but I absolutely cannot stand the smacking sound when people chew with their mouth open. Not to mention the rather undesirable possibility of food spitting while someone is talking with a mouth full. And then there are socks! I adore wearing my cozy, fuzzy socks, but the perpetual chore of matching them is a pain, and I truly despise finding them scattered all over the house by the kids. It’s as if once the kids take off their socks, the socks gain a mind of their own, embarking on adventurous journeys – running and hiding in sofa cushions, behind chairs, on the stairs – everywhere but in the laundry baskets!”
“I’ve been told I resemble Kathleen Turner, and sometimes a younger Lauren Bacall.”
“Well, my love for chocolate isn’t exactly a secret! But I do maintain a private candy stash in my nightstand drawer. It’s typically filled with snack-sized Baby Ruth, Reese’s Cups, and Hershey’s Bars. It’s not that I always eat it, but there’s a certain comfort in knowing it’s there, ready for whenever the craving or need for a sweet moment hits.”
“My coffee maker! I genuinely don’t function properly without that essential first cup of coffee in the morning. It’s my non-negotiable start to the day.”
“That’s a tough one! I’d have to say the Soft Pretzels, especially since they were made by my daughter. And also, ‘Chocolate Covered Everything’ – because, well, chocolate covered anything is always a winner!”
“This is a tough question for an extract girl like me! My absolute favorite extract is McCormick’s Butter and Nut flavoring. I wholeheartedly recommend using this instead of vanilla in any recipe; you’ll be amazed and delighted by the unique and delicious result. Beyond that, I frequently reach for sea salt and cinnamon – they truly enhance so many dishes.”
“My creativity in the kitchen is often sparked by a mood, seeing an inspiring photo, a particular ingredient that catches my eye, or simply having a specific craving. I find that I can’t truly bake on demand – well, I can, but the results are never as good or as satisfying as when the inspiration genuinely strikes me. This is why I could never own a bakery or cater events; I do it because I absolutely love doing it, and only when I truly feel like it.”
“Let’s be honest, dinner is just the delightful excuse to have dessert, so I’m going straight for a dessert-focused gathering! My first two guests would undoubtedly be both of my Grandmas. I never truly appreciated all the wisdom, stories, and culinary secrets they could have shared with me while they were alive, and I’d love to have that time now. My third guest would be Martha Stewart. I just want to playfully smack her upside the head and ask her why she insists on making everything seem so incredibly complicated! Being in the kitchen, whether cooking or baking, is supposed to be enjoyable and fun. Plus, I’d absolutely love to see her laugh so hard she loses her composure – I know my kids could definitely make that happen! As for what I’d serve, it would be a grand buffet of ice-cold milk alongside an extravagant spread of cookies, candies, cakes, and whatever else struck my fancy at the moment. Perhaps even some chocolate fondue for dipping! Ultimately, it wouldn’t be about the elaborate menu, but rather about the precious time spent with these wonderful people.”
