In a mere 41 hours, we managed a colossal 26-hour round trip drive to and from Winston-Salem, North Carolina. The motivation behind this epic journey? A beautiful, plush leather loveseat Kurt insisted on getting for me, a much-anticipated replacement for our incredibly durable, 27-year-old couch – which, astonishingly, was still in fantastic condition! While the idea of driving down ourselves instead of waiting for delivery seemed brilliant at the time, the open road had its own set of challenges. We navigated through a myriad of “interesting” drivers, witnessed a semi-truck quite literally nudge a car off into the breakdown lane, and narrowly avoided being swept into a car chase just outside the bustling streets of New York City. Despite the high-octane moments, the thrill of bringing home a new piece of comfort made every mile worthwhile.

I could honestly devour my weight in their vinegar red slaw; its tangy crunch was simply addictive.
