I am proud to be partnering with Mitsubishi for this sponsored post. As always, all opinions are 100% my own.
Logan is our energetic and incredibly charming 12-week old red Golden Retriever puppy. From the moment he entered our lives, my husband, Kurt, and I have been completely smitten. It’s safe to say we have absolutely fallen head over heels in love!
And honestly, who wouldn’t? There’s an undeniable magic that comes with babies and puppies – a pure, unadulterated joy that brightens every single day. Since the chapter of welcoming human babies into our home is firmly in the past (and not returning!), we wholeheartedly agreed that a furry, four-legged addition was the perfect next step. A puppy brings a unique kind of companionship, laughter, and unconditional love that perfectly complements our family dynamics, filling our home with renewed energy and boundless affection.
Just one look at that innocent, captivating face is all it takes! His soulful eyes and sweet expression have an uncanny ability to make my heart melt instantly, transforming even the most ordinary moments into something truly special.

Our search for Logan was quite a journey. We ultimately found him in California, hailing from a reputable breeder situated just east of Los Angeles. For the beginning of the summer, I had been diligently searching for a litter of dark Golden Retrievers, a quest that initially seemed to yield no results. While there were many lovely litters of English Golden Retrievers with their characteristic cream-colored coats, our hearts have always held a special affinity for the rich, vibrant red hue that defines a true red Golden. We believe there’s something particularly striking and warm about their coloring, which perfectly captures the spirited personality we cherish in the breed. Finding a breeder who specialized in the darker reds was paramount to us, ensuring we found the perfect addition to our family.
If you’ve been a loyal reader of 365 Days of Baking and More for a while, then you might recall that Logan isn’t our first experience with these magnificent red Golden Retrievers. We’ve had the immense privilege of sharing our lives with two wonderful red Golden Retrievers in the past, each leaving an indelible mark on our hearts and home.
Brady, our very first family dog, was truly one of a kind. He embodied everything you could wish for in a companion: gentle, perpetually happy-go-lucky, undeniably fun-loving, and delightfully goofy. He possessed a calm demeanor paired with an infectious enthusiasm for life. Brady particularly loved his walks, but his absolute favorite activity was joining Kurt on invigorating runs, his powerful stride matching Kurt’s pace effortlessly. His presence was a constant source of comfort and joy. Unfortunately, we had to make the incredibly difficult decision to say goodbye to him in March of last year, leaving a profound void in our lives and a deep ache in our hearts.

A few years prior, our daughter, Emma, desired a Golden Retriever of her own, and that’s how Keiser entered our family. Despite Brady being older and having been with us for several years, Keiser, with his confident and spirited nature, quickly established himself as the alpha dog of the household. It was quite amusing to witness their dynamic! Keiser was undoubtedly a lover, not a fighter – his dominant spirit manifested more in playful nudges and commanding attention than any aggression, often to Brady’s tolerant amusement. He brought a lively energy that complemented Brady’s gentle nature perfectly, creating a memorable pair.
Tragically, Keiser was only 2 and a half years old when we had to say goodbye to him in March 2015. He had been suffering from severe seizures, and despite our best efforts and various medications, his condition deteriorated, and the treatments could no longer control them. It was a heartbreaking decision, but one made out of love to spare him further suffering. Keiser was such a sweetheart – bursting with enthusiasm and a zest for life. He absolutely adored playing with Brady, often tugging gently on his ears in a playful manner. He was always going full-speed, whether on walks through the neighborhood or challenging hikes in the wilderness, and he truly LOVED being outdoors, reveling in every scent and sight. His memory, like Brady’s, continues to inspire our love for this wonderful breed and reminds us of the profound impact they have on our lives.

And so now, a new chapter begins, and we have this wonderful little guy, Logan, ready to write his own story within our family.

Being deeply rooted in New England and avid supporters of all our local sports teams, the process of naming Logan naturally gravitated towards a reference to the iconic Boston Red Sox. After all, when you name your very first dog after one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time, you truly have to maintain that beloved theme for future pets! We brainstormed several names, considering Fenway, a nod to the legendary ballpark, and Benny, inspired by Andrew Benintendi, alongside a few other contenders. However, Kurt also expressed an interest in a Scottish name, recognizing Scotland as the ancestral home of the Golden Retriever breed. It was he who ultimately suggested and settled on the name Logan, a beautiful choice that perfectly blends tradition with a subtle regional connection.

While Logan might not be a direct Red Sox player, the name provides a charming connection to Boston through Logan International Airport – the closest we could get while still embracing Kurt’s desire for a Scottish origin. In the end, we absolutely adore the name, and it genuinely suits our little Golden perfectly, capturing his adventurous spirit and endearing personality.
The journey to bring Logan home was an adventure in itself, and Kurt and I cherished every moment of it. We made two memorable trips to California: first, to meet the litter of nine and choose our future companion when he was just four weeks old, and then a few weeks later, to joyfully bring him home with us. For this pivotal first road trip, Mitsubishi graciously provided us with their 2018 Outlander, and we truly couldn’t have been more pleased with our experience. The ride was incredibly smooth, ensuring a comfortable and stress-free journey for both us and our precious cargo. The spacious interior, particularly the generous legroom, was a standout feature. It allowed Mr. Logan to stretch out comfortably at my feet, feeling safe and secure enough to drift off to sleep for practically the entire duration of our long drive home. It was the perfect vehicle for welcoming our new furry family member.

Here are a few more delightful snapshots we captured of Logan during his comfortable and exciting car ride home with us, showcasing his first grand adventure.

Since his arrival home, Logan has been adapting remarkably well to his new environment. While I can’t truthfully say that he and our daughter’s cat, Winnie, have become the best of friends just yet, it’s definitely an ongoing project! They’ve developed a rather lively routine of chasing each other around the house, which, while entertaining, also requires some intervention. I’m actively working on encouraging them both to interact more calmly and respectfully, fostering a peaceful coexistence between our furry companions. It’s a delicate balance of redirection and patience, but we’re hopeful! HA! Wish me abundant luck on that particular endeavor!

For more frequent glimpses into Logan’s daily antics and adorable moments, you can easily follow all his adventures here on my Instagram stories if you’re not already following along with my main account.
AND, because one Instagram account simply isn’t enough for such a charismatic puppy, I’ve also launched a dedicated Logan the Golden Dog account on Instagram specifically for him! There, you’ll discover almost daily pictures and updates on our boy’s exciting life, from his training progress to his playful escapades and everything in between. It’s the perfect place to get your regular dose of Logan happiness!

I genuinely look forward to sharing all of our wonderful adventures with you each Friday, providing detailed updates on what Logan has been up to throughout the week. He is, as all puppies are, incredibly entertaining, bringing endless laughter and heartwarming moments into our lives. I have no doubt that this delightful entertainment will only continue and grow for many, many happy years to come!
