Discover a delicious and easy way to bring an exciting meal to your dinner table without breaking the bank. Our Barbecue Chicken Salad Crescent Ring offers a delightful new twist on the classic chicken salad sandwich, elevated with the rich, smoky flavor of Kraft Barbecue Sauce and the creamy indulgence of Velveeta Shredded Cheese, all wrapped in flaky crescent rolls. This recipe proves that simple dinners can be incredibly tasty and budget-friendly, especially with reliable products from Kraft.

For many, crafting a delicious dinner that’s also easy on the budget presents a significant challenge. The realities of monthly bills—mortgage or rent, indispensable utilities, children’s needs, and the ever-rising cost of fuel—can make grocery shopping feel like a high-stakes game. Yet, fueling our families with nourishing and enjoyable meals is a priority that shouldn’t be sacrificed due to financial constraints. Living paycheck to paycheck is a familiar struggle for many, and finding ways to save money on groceries while still serving satisfying meals is a huge win. The ultimate reward is not just the savings, but the sheer joy of seeing family members genuinely *love* what they’re eating!
As the end of the month approaches and bills loom large, I challenged myself to create a complete, delectable family dinner for under $20. The goal was to prove that resourcefulness in the kitchen can lead to truly rewarding results. And you know what? It absolutely can be done! Not only did I manage to stay well within the budget, but we even had fantastic leftovers for lunch the next day. This Barbecue Chicken Salad Crescent Ring dinner isn’t just a recipe; it’s a testament to smart shopping and creative cooking.
Roll Into Savings with Kraft at Walmart
My quest began at Walmart, a one-stop shop for household necessities and, crucially, all the Kraft ingredients needed for this budget-conscious feast. I was delighted to find many Kraft products on rollback, making my under-$20 dinner challenge even more achievable. Saving money on essential grocery items truly makes a difference in managing household expenses, and Walmart and Kraft make it possible to stock up on quality products without compromising your budget.

The array of ingredients I gathered for this low-budget meal was impressive, promising a spread that looked anything but cheap. Our main event was the star of the show: the Barbecue Chicken Salad Crescent Ring. For this, I relied on the classic flavors of Kraft Original Barbecue Sauce, the creamy texture of Kraft Mayo, and the melt-in-your-mouth goodness of Velveeta Shredded Cheese. But a great dinner isn’t complete without its supporting cast!

Alongside our magnificent crescent ring, we enjoyed a hearty side of Macaroni and Cheese infused with fresh broccoli, using Kraft Macaroni & Cheese Dinner Deluxe Four Cheese for that rich, comforting taste. To add a vibrant, healthy crunch, I prepared a platter of fresh, crisp vegetables including carrots, red pepper, and cucumber, served with a generous helping of Kraft Ranch Dressing for dipping. This complete meal was an absolute hit with the family, earning rave reviews and immediate requests for an encore. It’s truly satisfying to create a meal that’s both economical and enthusiastically received!

Crafting Your Barbecue Chicken Salad Crescent Ring: A Step-by-Step Guide
Let’s dive into the “construction” of this impressive crescent ring, shall we? It sounds wonderfully formal for such a simple and fun dish. The process is straightforward, ensuring that even novice cooks can achieve a beautifully presented and incredibly tasty meal. First things first, we’ll prepare the star of our filling: the flavorful barbecue chicken salad.

To begin forming the ring, unroll your crescent dough. Place four crescent rolls with their widest ends at the bottom, arranging them so they start to form a 5-inch diameter circle. You can use either a pizza stone or a large baking sheet for this. Just ensure your kitchen counter is thoroughly clean, as the points of the crescent rolls will slightly extend beyond the edge of your baking surface.

Next, continue laying out the remaining crescent rolls. Position them so their widest ends overlap slightly in the center, and their pointed ends face outwards. Keep arranging them until you form a complete and even circle. This creates a beautiful base for our savory filling and an appealing presentation once baked.

You’re doing a great job! The foundation of your crescent ring is now perfectly in place, ready for the delicious barbecue chicken salad. This symmetrical arrangement not only looks good but also ensures even baking and easy serving once the ring is complete. Keep up the excellent work!

Now, it’s time to add the flavorful filling. If you have an ice cream scoop, it’s an excellent tool for evenly distributing the chicken salad around the inner, widest part of the crescent roll circle. If not, a regular spoon works just as well. Aim for an even layer to ensure every bite of the baked ring is packed with delicious flavor.

Once the chicken salad is in place, sprinkle two-thirds of a cup of Velveeta Shredded Cheese generously over the top. The cheese will melt beautifully, adding an extra layer of creaminess and flavor. Next, gently fold the pointed ends of the crescent rolls up and over the chicken salad, tucking them snugly under the dough in the center of the ring. Don’t worry if the filling isn’t completely covered at this stage; the crescent dough will expand wonderfully during baking to encase the savory center. Finally, sprinkle the remaining one-third cup of Velveeta Shredded Cheese over the top of the folded dough for a golden, cheesy crust.

Bake the crescent ring in your preheated oven for 20 to 25 minutes, or until the dough turns a beautiful golden brown and the cheese is bubbly and melted. The aroma filling your kitchen will be irresistible, signaling that a truly comforting and fun meal is just moments away!

- ⅓ cup Kraft Mayo
- ¼ cup minced red onion
- ¼ cup diced celery
- 3 tablespoons Kraft Original BBQ Sauce
- 2 (8-ounce) packages crescent rolls
- 1 cup Velveeta Shredded Cheese, divided
Broccoli Macaroni & Cheese
- 1 package Kraft Macaroni & Cheese Dinner Deluxe Original Four Cheese
- 1 cup chopped raw broccoli
Fresh Vegetables
- 1 cucumber, sliced
- 1 red pepper, sliced
- 3 carrots, sliced
- 1 cup Kraft Ranch Dressing for dipping
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190°C).
- In a medium bowl, combine shredded chicken, Kraft Mayo, minced red onion, diced celery, and Kraft Original Barbecue Sauce. Mix thoroughly until all ingredients are well combined.
- Unwrap the crescent rolls and carefully separate them into individual triangles. Place them on a plate for easy access.
- On a large baking sheet or pizza stone, arrange 4 pieces of crescent dough with the wide ends closest to each other, forming the beginning of a 5-inch diameter circle.
- Continue arranging the remaining crescent rolls, overlapping their wide ends in the center, until a complete circle is formed with all the pointed ends facing outwards.
- Using an ice cream scoop (or a spoon), evenly distribute the chicken salad mixture around the circle, on the wide ends of the crescent triangles.
- Sprinkle 2/3 cup of Velveeta Shredded Cheese over the barbecue chicken salad filling.
- Gently fold the outside points of the crescent rolls up and over the chicken salad, tucking them snugly under the dough in the center. Note that the filling may not be completely covered at this point, but the rolls will expand during baking.
- Sprinkle the remaining 1/3 cup of Velveeta Shredded Cheese over the top of the folded crescent ring.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the crescent ring is golden brown and the cheese is bubbly and melted.
Broccoli Macaroni & Cheese Instructions
- Prepare the package of Kraft Macaroni & Cheese according to the manufacturer’s directions.
- Once prepared, add the chopped raw broccoli to the hot macaroni and cheese and mix well. The residual heat will slightly soften the broccoli, adding a fresh texture and vibrant color.
Fresh Vegetables Instructions
- Arrange the sliced cucumber, red pepper, and carrots attractively on a serving plate.
- Serve with Kraft Ranch Dressing for a refreshing and crunchy dipping experience.
Notes
When arranging the crescent rolls, the pointed ends may hang slightly off the edge of your baking sheet or pizza stone. Ensure your counter or work surface is clean to maintain hygiene.
