I’ll admit, while I appreciate the excitement, my attention is often drawn to other pursuits. Tomorrow, for instance, marks the grand task of tackling all my laundry from our recent cruise! That is, *if* the boys and I make it home in time to catch the tournament’s thrilling conclusion.
Just yesterday, after spending 11 days away from home with my daughter, I found myself in a quiet hotel room. Kurt, Cameron, and I had embarked on a four-hour drive northwest to the majestic Grand Canyon. This wasn’t just any visit; it was an ambitious attempt for them to conquer the challenging rim-to-rim-to-rim hike they couldn’t complete on their first try. They were aiming for an incredible 44 miles in just 22 hours, a feat that honestly makes me think they’re a little bit crazy!
I dropped them off around 3:15 AM, then checked into my hotel, grateful for the warmth. After a few hours of work, I returned to the park to witness a breathtaking sunset. However, freezing temperatures and gusty winds quickly got the better of me. Retreating to the warmth of my car, I cranked up the heat for the drive back to the hotel, eagerly anticipating dinner. I know the canyon floor was experiencing pleasant temperatures in the upper 70s as they began their descent, but Kurt anticipated a frigid 20°F at the North Rim. No, thank you!
