These Oreo Chocolate Chip Cookies, combining two long-time favorites – Oreos and Chocolate Chip Cookies, are delicious alone, but even better dunked in milk!

Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter, room temperature
  • ¼ cup shortening
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • ⅓ cup packed light brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 3.5 ounces mini Oreos (approximately 1 cup, coarsely crushed)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 C).
  2. Place Oreos in a plastic bag and coarsely crush them using a rolling pin or by hand. Set aside.
  3. In a medium bowl, sift together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
  4. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and shortening until well combined and smooth.
  5. Add both the granulated sugar and light brown sugar to the butter mixture, along with the vanilla extract. Beat until the mixture is light and fluffy, usually about two minutes.
  6. Beat in the egg until it is fully incorporated into the batter, scraping down the sides of the bowl as needed.
