Embracing New Chapters: Life, Routines, and the Joy of Home

Life at home has certainly entered a new phase recently. With our two wonderful girls now away at college, it’s just our son and us navigating the quieter rhythm of a household of three. It’s a little strange, to say the least – the dynamic has shifted, and the hustle and bustle have mellowed. While we miss the girls dearly, this new configuration has also brought its own unique kind of good, allowing for different connections and routines to form.

On a personal note, I’m also settling into a more consistent schedule at work. This transition has been a journey, but I’m incredibly optimistic that very soon, I’ll be able to firmly establish my home routine alongside a dedicated blogging schedule. A consistent routine is paramount not only for managing household tasks and personal well-being but also for fostering creativity and consistently sharing delicious recipes here on the blog. My aim is to be more present and consistent, bringing you even more inspiring content and engaging with this fantastic community on a regular basis. Having a set routine will undoubtedly make future Wicked Good Wednesdays a breeze!

Oh, where do I even begin with these? If you’ve followed my blog for any length of time, you’ll already know that I am an absolute fanatic for anything lemon! There’s something about that bright, tangy, and refreshing citrus flavor that just speaks to my soul. When I first laid eyes on Joan’s Fried Lemon Pies, it was an instant journey back in time to my childhood. They evoked vivid memories of savoring those iconic Hostess Lemon Fruit Pies – a true taste of Americana that, sadly, my grandkids may never experience (much like the mysteries of Twinkies, Ding Dongs, or Ho Ho’s, or even what an 8-track is to my own children!). For what feels like a very, very long time, I have harbored a secret desire to create one of these magnificent culinary marvels – a Baked Alaska! However, I must admit, the sheer elegance and complexity of this classic dessert have always left me feeling a tad intimidated. That’s why, when I saw Becca’s stunning rendition from It’s Yummilicious, I was absolutely blown away. Her Baked Alaska turned out truly beautifully, a testament to her skill and dedication in the kitchen. This was a challenging item on her culinary baking list, and she conquered it with grace! My own aspiration to make a Baked Alaska is tucked away on my list, right under croissants – another intimidating but deeply desired baking project. Seeing Becca’s success has given me a much-needed boost of confidence and inspiration. I know I’ll get there eventually, and her gorgeous creation has definitely fueled that ambition. Thank you, Becca, for the wonderful inspiration and for showing us all that even the most daunting desserts are achievable!
